JIM OG DE LYSENDE SÅLE

Someone says music is the sound of emotions. At least it’s true that Jim’s lyrics are rock: Lyrock – the genre where you can’t get up from your chair because it’s so beautiful to watch the sun go down!

“The band won the VESTERBRO ROCK CHAMPIONSHIP in 2023 and is anything but pure jazz. The lyrics is written by the poet Jim Nydam Bjerregaard, who is also the lead singer in the orchestra. The music is a form of symbiosis between Jim’s poetry and music that supports the lyrics. Some tracks are pure readings, others with a little organ and several tracks approach rock with full power from the whole band, which consists of 6 musicians. The poems contain both serious sequences and very cheerful ones.”

 

After a momentous year since it, right after its EP debut in 2023, was selected among bands in Zealand to appear in the talent and career development program POPKORN NORDIC, and won the VESTERBRO ROCK CHAMPIONSHIP among 5 selected bands from all over the country, is the band with its very own genre: Lyrock (Lyric + rock) soon ready with their full ALBUM, to be released in 2025!

 

However, you can already hear many of these tracks tonight!

 

But the evening is about celebrating the fact that the lyrock band will release 6 tracks in English, which they have released in Danish in the past year, as well as release 2 new tracks both in English and Danish – divided into 2 EPs in English and 1 EP in Danish: It really is 3P EVE!

 

LYROCK ON HUMAN NATURE IN CULTURE

 

Innovative rock band based on the poet-philosopher Jim Nydam Bjerregaard’s texts and ideas with his very own style and tone!

 

Winner of the VESTERBRO ROCK CHAMPIONSHIP 2023 and genre-defining ‘Lyrock’ by Sort Sol’s drummer and judge Tomas Ortved in the unanimous judging panel’s selection speech: 

 

“A poet as a singer? You can’t do that, but he did it sublimely! They took the spoken word tradition one step further, so that it was integrated into the music in an interesting way. They had something on their minds and at the same time they had a party! There is lyric and there is rock, and this evening a new genre was born: Lyrock – And they won at that! – Congratulations…"

Based on the poet and philosopher Jim Nydam Bjerregaard’s poems and songs, which have a sense of both joy, seriousness and humor in our own and shared lives. Jim is hearing music when he writes his lyrics – and therefore the tracks naturally bear the stamp of the amalgamation that balances content and form. The approach is experimental and live influenced, which ensures passion and intensity of presence.

In the summer’s warm and full sun, they gave concerts at, among others, Copenhagen Jazz Festival and Sejerø Festival. From late summer to Christmas, they play at Mojo Blues Bar 3 times in just 3 months – on 12/9, 7/11 and 12/12 – while making more tracks for their 2025 ALBUM, which unfolds the band!

 

Brief explanation of 'sole' in the band name Jim & De lysende såle: 'sole' comes from Latin 'sola', meaning 'solar eclipse', 'sole', 'sun god', 'alone' and 'sunrise'.
