Gena (Korea)

GENA is a six-piece Korean band that brings traditional Korean music into a contemporary band setting. Their sound combines the daegeum (a traditional Korean bamboo flute) and haegeum (a traditional Korean string instrument) with vocals, keyboards, bass and drums.

With more than ten years of experience together, GENA has developed a distinctive sound that connects the deep emotion and unique character of Korean traditional music with contemporary rhythms and arrangements. Rather than simply recreating traditional music, the band explores how traditional instruments and musical elements can evolve and communicate with audiences today.

As part of their European tour this autumn, GENA will perform at Mojo, one of Copenhagen's historic live music venues, which has been presenting live music since 1993. Performing at such an intimate and respected venue is a meaningful opportunity for GENA to introduce their contemporary Korean sound within Copenhagen's rich and diverse music culture.

The performance also offers audiences a chance to experience how traditional music from Asia is changing and evolving through contemporary music, creating new sounds and new ways of connecting with audiences today.
