Richard Ray Farrell hails form Niagara Falls, New York and Richard Farrell hails from Dublin, Ireland.
They have led similar lives, touring and busking around Europe since a young age, honing their craft where ever they landed their feet.
Sharing the same Irish surname and passion for blues, these two troubadours have 30 years between them.Their paths will cross for the first time in this mini tour of Denmark and Ireland.
This will be a reunion like no other, two Richard Farrells, from two different continents, playing blues together on a spiritual journey back to their ancestral homeland…..
The night will consist of a solo performance from each musician showcasing each musicians take on blues and folk and then followed by both Richard Farrell’s playing some of their favourite tunes together. It will be very special and memorable evening, unlike no other…..
Richard Ray Farrell
During his long career Richard has toured with many American artists including RL Burnside, Louisiana Red, Frank Frost, Big Jack Johnson, Lazy Lester and Big Boy Henry. Richard formed the band Farrell & Black in 1995 with legendary Mothers of Invention drummer, Jimmy Carl Black. This band produced two CD’s, Cataract Jump (1996) and Black Limousine (1999) and toured Europe and the USA for seven years.Richard Also recorded two CD’s for the German label Stormy Monday Records, Live in Germany (1992) and Street Songs, Jazzy Tunes and Down Home Blues (1998). Richard moved back to the US and settled in the Philadelphia area in 2001. He quickly got into the Philly music scene, started his own band, and began performing with Philadelphia harp veteran Steve Guyger. Richard produced six CD’s on his own Blue Beet label before leaving the US to live in Spain in 2014.
Bohemian Life (2003), 16 Farrell originals including great established musicians on the international blues scene include Jerry Portnoy, Steve Gomes, Robb Stupka, Benjie Porecki and Bill Heid. Acoustic Roots (2003), solo acoustic ragtime favourites of Richard from the 20’ and 30’s. Down Home Old Country Blues (2006),with Steve Guyger showcases Richard’s expertise in traditional blues. Stuck On The Blues (2007) is another acoustic duo CD with Italian harmonica virtuoso Marco Pandolfi. Camino de Sanlucar (2009) was recorded in Seville, Spain. The CD features the legendary Spanish flamenco and rock guitarist Raimundo Amador on three tracks. Raimundo is a bona fide rock star in Spain who has recorded with BB King and sold over 300,000 units in his long and illustrious career. All these CD’s charted in the US and have achieved acclaim from music critics worldwide.I Sing The Blues Eclectic (2011) is a CD of twelve Farrell originals. It entered the Living Blues charts in May 2011 at number 8 and stayed at number 19 through June. The CD went all the way to number 2 on XM/Sirius BB Kings Bluesville Picks to Click and has been getting constant airplay since May 2011. Shoe Shoppin’ Woman (2014) is Richard Ray Farrell’s latest CD on the Bluebeet label. The CD has 8 originals and 3 covers featuring Richard Ray on hot blues harmonica, smokin’ guitar and heartfelt blues vocals. This is a strong follow up to his highly acclaimed CD, I Sing The Blues Eclectic. Sometimes serious, sometimes humorous, sometimes sad, Richard’s songs shine through with his own definitive stamp on the blues.
