Charles Burton er fra San Diego, og som en af de få spiller han den blues som oprindeligt kommer derfra - nemlig West Coast Blues. Han er en enestående guitarist og en rigtig god sanger som kombinerer det fine med det rå så det altid giver en god kontrast til det enkelte nummer.
Charles Burton er en fantastisk West Coast guitarist fra San Diego. Musikalsk spænder han vidt fra Blues, Jazz, Rock’n’ roll til Soul. Hans vokal er både af den følsomme og rå karakter. Han har turneret det meste af Europa og udgivet 5 plader i eget navn. Hvis folk kan lide BB King, Johnny Winter eller West Coast Blues vil de ikke gå forgæves. Med på trommer er hans faste trommeslager igennem mange år, Asmus Jensen, som er kendt fra Delta Blues Band og Omar And The Howlers. På bas er det Paul Junior - måske en af landets bedste basister med stor erfaring fra bl.a tiden med Omar Dykes.
One of the few San Diego blues combos to actually play the locally developed West Coast style, Burton would rule the roost in most towns, based on the evidence found on his new disc. Solid guitarist, smooth singer, nicely lilting songs that lend themselves well to his trio's clean arrangements: good stuff all the way around.
The Charles Burton Blues Band pushes the Blues envelope. But whether they're rocking it, swinging it, jazzing it up, adding latin spice or country twang, deep blues feeling permeates this high-energy trio.
Charles is preparing to embark on his 16th european tour in support of his 5th, and many say best CD, "Sweet Potato Pie," the critically acclaimed SDMA 2013 Best Blues nominated album (Charles' 3rd CD, "Everybody's Talkin'," was also nominated for SDMA Best Blues Album of 2009). Charles won the International Blues Challenge regional finals as a solo performer and represented San Diego at the 2009 IBC in Memphis, the same year he won the San Diego Guitar Center "King of the Blues" regional final.
Charles has been a featured performer with the Deacons, King Biscuit Revue, Michele Lundeen, and the Bayou Brothers. He has also toured England with Blues legend Lazy Lester and headlined the Fresno Blues Festival with Hosea Levy.
It's going to be a rocking good time!
